Make a real birthday song with Gemini, explained by monkey
Gemini can write and sing a whole song for you from one message. Tell it who the song is for and a couple of things about them, and it writes the words and sings them. It's in the normal Gemini app, free plan included. Here's what to type, how to make it better, and what it won't do.
Google added its newest music maker, Lyria 3.5, to the Gemini app and says it's available to all users around the world, on the web and in the phone app. It made Google's October roundup of new Gemini features again on October 30. You describe the song, choose singing or just music, and choose a short clip or a longer track. Tracks can run up to about three minutes.
What to type
- Open Gemini (gemini.google.com or the Gemini app) and ask it to make a song, or start from one of the ready-made templates in its music template gallery.
- Say who it's for and give two or three real details: "Make a funny birthday song for my friend Kevin. He loves naps and soup and is always late."
- Pick a style if you want one: pop, country, a slow ballad, a sea shanty. Say "with singing" or "just music".
- Don't like a line? Ask it to change that line, or give it your own words to sing.
Make it better
- Small, specific details make it feel personal. An inside joke beats "he's a great guy".
- Ask for a short version for a quick video message, or a longer one to play at the party.
- You can also upload a photo, and Gemini will make a track that fits the mood of the picture.
What it won't do
- You have to be 18 or older to use it.
- There's a daily limit. Google only says "limits apply" and doesn't give a number for each plan.
- It won't copy a real singer's voice.
- Every track gets an invisible watermark (Google calls it SynthID) that marks it as made by AI. So you can't really take the credit like monkey did.
